Day 16 of the 2011 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker is the last that will see five people claim WCOOP bracelets on the same day. Two events that began on Sunday resumed with their respective Day 2s while three other scheduled events on the WCOOP docket were completed. The last wrapped up after sunrise on the East Coast. Also, for the second consecutive day, Daniel "KidPoker" Negreanu made a deep run but came up just short of seizing WCOOP glory.
Day 2 of Event #40 began with 57 of the original 8,332 players left vying for the first-place prize of $249,964. Slovenia's "moreno007" entered the day with the chip lead, but several pros were still in contention for the WCOOP bracelet, including Ryan "Daut44" Daut, Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah, Artem "FaNjkEEE" Kobylynskyi, Sandra Naujoks, and Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen.
Daut was the only well-known pro to reach the final table, as Naujoks took 42nd place, Guillen 25th, Kobylynskyi 23rd, and Leah 20th. "Moreno007" coasted to the final table, taking a bit more than what he started the day with, while Russia's "z81ima" had amassed the biggest stack.
Chips went flying on the very first hand at the final table. With the blinds at 100,000/200,000, "Igor Priva" raised to 473,000 from early position and "xwc123" and Daut came along for the ride. The flop came 
and Daut checked. Igor Priva fired 870,000, which prompted "xwc123" to move all-in for 3.4 million. Daut then re-shipped his entire stack in the middle, and "Igor Priva" decided to lay down his hand.
Daut was in bad shape with 
against "xwc123's," set of sixes, but the 
turn and 
river gave the former PokerStars Caribbean Adventure champ a bigger full house to send "xwc123" to the rail in ninth place.
"Igor Priva" dodged a bullet there but couldn't avoid the Daut buzzsaw for long. After "rickv17" exited in eighth place, "Igor Priva" and Daut saw a flop of 
. Daut checked and then raised his opponent's 780,000 bet to 2,015,150. "Igor Priva" called and the fell on the turn. Daut bet 3 million, "Igor Priva" moved all-in, and Daut called off his remaining 5.9 million. "Igor Priva" had 
for a pair of jacks, but Daut revealed a set of fours and was in a commanding position. The 
was no help to the Ukranian player, who later bowed out in sixth place.
Daut claimed the chip lead with that pot, but "z81ima" re-took the pole position by eliminating "luigy666" and "Lecher1991" in fifth and fourth place, respectively. Daut then sent "bendeauville" out the door in third place when his 
held up against 
, setting up a heads-up match with Daut (52.6 million) in front of "z81ima" (30.7 million).
The Russian player evened things up before the two decided on a chip chop. Daut led his opponent by just a million chips and locked up $208,500, while "z81ima" agreed to take $205,384.96 with $20,000 going to the winner.
From there, Daut was never able to pick up steam as "z81ima" doubled up to 63 million by avoiding a Daut flush draw and then ended the match by making a bold call with a weak ace. With the blinds at 500,000/1,000,000, "z81ima" min-raised the button with 
and Daut shoved for 24.6 million with 
. The Russian called after a short while and watched the board roll out 
to give him trip aces and his first WCOOP bracelet. Daut, meanwhile, shifted his focus to the $1,000 Two-Day event, where he was still alive with less than 50 players remaining.

Following Day 1 of Event #42, the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Two-Day, 111 players returned for Day 2 action. Day 1 chip leader "po77a" remained atop the chip counts for nearly all of Day 2 leading up to the final table. Here were the chip counts at the start:
Short-stacked "Langustee" busted first, getting it in for five big blinds with 
against "po77a's"

to give "po77a" a straight to win the pot. The next to exit was Event #38 winner bajskorven87. From the small blind, "bajskorven87" watched as there was a raise from middle position and a three-bet from the button. With 
, "bajskorven87" four-bet shoved for about 40 big blinds. However, Mike "munchenHB" Telker woke up with 
in the big blind and five-bet shoved for just a little bit more, isolating the pot. The board ran out 
, spelling the end of the line for "bajskorven87."
Departing in seventh place was "sporty_2311." All in under the gun for roughly seven big blinds, "sporty_2311" found action from "68ioweyou1" with 
. The board came down 
to give "68ioweyou1" a winning two pair. Three hands later, David "davidmoreira" Moreira picked a bad time to three-bet shove with from the big blind. "68ioweyou1" had raised with under the gun and scored the elimination when the board ran out 
. However, "68ioweyou1's" stack dissipated, and about 45 minutes later, only four remained. Under the gun, "68ioweyou1" shoved for ten big blinds and ran into Mike Telker's . The board delivered a third king for Telker to remove any sweat.
"Po77a" was felted in fourth place. After "FlipflopUK" raised on the button, "po77a" three-bet shoved from the small blind for about seven big blinds with . "FlipflopUK" called with and held up through the 
board. Still, "FlipflopUK" finished in third place. In a battle of the blinds, "FlipflopUK" and Joe "joejoe1337" Whittaker went back and forth with a few raises, culminating with "FlipflopUK" calling all-in following a Whittaker five-bet. With 
, "FlipflopUK" was well behind the held by Whittaker. The board ran out 
, leaving a heads-up battle between Whittaker and Telker. Here were the chip counts at the start:

About 40 minutes into the heads-up duel and with the chip stacks nearly even, a raising war preflop resulted in Telker being all-in with against Whittaker's . The board rolled out , giving Telker the pot and leaving Whittaker with less than three big blinds. Two hands later, Telker finished his opponent off to secure a $353,120 payday and a WCOOP bracelet.

Event #43, the $300 Pot-Limit Omaha Six-Max with Re-buys, featured a pretty rare feat. It was a clean sweep at the final table for eventual winner "HonestPete." Still, "HonestPete" almost didn't have the chance to win. With two tables remaining, "HonestPete" three-bet from the button following "L.O_4cus'" cutoff raise. A call from "L.O_4cus" delivered a 
flop to the board. A check-call on the flop from "L.O_4cus" led to both players checking the turn. "L.O_4cus" bet the river strong, but was committed to call "HonestPete's" all-in following the shove. The bad news was revealed for "L.O_4cus" who showed 
for top set. "HonestPete" took it down and went on to have quite the final table.

It took nearly an hour for the first player to be eliminated. Chip-leader-to-start "Messiah55" was the unfortunate one. A combination of several lost hands and the doubling up of "PickyTooth" was ultimately too much for "Messiah55" to overcome. "Messiah55's" final stand came with 
against "HonestPete's" . The chips went into the middle after a 
flop, which saw a turn and 
river end "Messiah55's" tournament.
That sparked a flurry of busts as within seven minutes play was down to heads-up. "LenaKab" was the next to say goodbye after getting it in with 
against "HonestPete's" . A 
board failed to save "LenaKab," out in fifth place. "HonestPete" didn't always get it in ahead, holding against "L.O_4cus'" shortly thereafter. However, the board fell as "HonestPete" tripped up to send "L.O_4cus" to the rail. The barrage wasn't over because two hands later "HonestPete" dismissed "PickyTooth," too. A series of raises preflop led to "PickyTooth" all-in with . "HonestPete" tabled and got there when the board ran out , making a straight.

"Tsubi87" battled for about 20 minutes before succumbing to a runner-up finish. On the final hand, "Tsubi87" called a three-bet from "HonestPete" to see a flop. After "HonestPete" bet the flop, "Tsubi87" shoved with 
. "HonestPete" called with and dodged the necessary outs as the turn and river secured the final table sweep, the $102,543 first-place prize, and the WCOOP bracelet for "HonestPete."

Event #44 was a smashing success on Monday as the 2X Chance tournament more than doubled its $400,000 Guarantee to create a first-place prize of nearly $130,000. Three members of Team PokerStars made deep runs in the event, but all fell painfully short of the nine-handed final table.

Dutchman "z0di@c" min-raised the button to 70,000 with and "Obafemi 9" three-bet shoved for nearly 1 million from the big blind with . "Z0di@c" called and the board sent "Obafemi 9" to the rail with $8,115.
Stephen "sizzlinbetta" Reynolds fizzled in eighth place moments later when he three-bet all-in for 710,000 with and was called by the original raiser "Teobaldo" with . The better hand won and Reynolds collected $14,201. He was followed by "thagrind444" who also three-bet shoved into pocket kings, this time belonging to "Pvd170590." The kings bested the of "thagrind444" and the table was down to six players.
"Z0di@c" went back to work by eliminating the next two players, "trampek" and "Teobaldo." After his out-flipped the pocket nines of "trampek," "z0di@c" called an all-in bet from "Teobaldo" and was up against nines again. This time he was in trouble with but an ace on the flop gave him a pot worth $1.6 million and vaulted him into second in chips with 4 million, trailing the 6 million of "BuRR7deuce."
"Z0di@c" continued his onslaught by eliminating "Pvd170590" in fourth place in a button-versus-blind confrontation. "Pvd170590" three-bet shoved from the big blind for more than 2 million but his opponent called instantly with pocket aces. The board brought no help to "Pvd170590" who left the final table with $52,058.
Moments later, Mexico's "Nutzho" moved all-in for 1.2 million from the button with and "BuRR7deuce" called in the big blind with . The gave "BuRR7deuce" trip eights and set up the heads-up match against "z0di@c."
"Z0di@c" began the match with a 2.2-1 chip advantage and was able to finish off his Canadian counterpart in less than 30 hands. On the final hand of the match, the two players saw a flop of and "z0di@c" led out for 470,000. BuRR7deuce pushed all in for 2.65 million and "z0di@c" called instantly with , which had his opponent's in bad shape. The turn and river changed nothing and "z0di@c" secured the gold bracelet and a payday of $129,841.

Buy-inEntrantsPrize PoolBounty PoolEvent #45 was the last tournament to get under way on Monday but it was the first to crown a winner. Only 4 hours 20 minutes were needed to plow through a field of 3,436 as the turbo knockout format resulted in a flurry of preflop battles.
Among the notables to make deep runs in the event were Adam "squee451" Sherman, Tim "tRaMSt0p" Duckworth and Chad "ihaterivers" Walker, but all fell short of the final table.
The eliminations came fast, so try to keep up. With the blinds at 50,000/100,000 the average stack was just 19 big blinds, and the first four bust-outs came within a span of nine hands. First, it was Canada's "inductive" who moved in for just a little more than four big blinds with . "PUCIPUCO" called in the big blind with and rivered a straight on the 
board.
Short stacks "dev209," "Sajanas171" and "collins3" hit the rail during the next few minutes and suddenly there were just five players remaining. The United Kingdom's "joejoe1337" then three-bet all-in for 7.5 big blinds with{ Ac} but was run down by the of "vongericke" when the board ran out . "Vongericke" continued to inflict his wrath on the table by sending Belgian pro Kenny "SpaceyCFB" Hallaert to his demise in third place; "vongericke" moved all-in from the small blind with and Hallaert called off his remaining 1.23 million with and failed to improve.
"Vongericke" handed the lead over to "PUCIPUCO" shortly after three-handed play began, but those chips were quickly sent over to "ChernyAV," who took doubled through "Vongericke" and then won the largest pot of the tournament. With the blinds at 125,000/250,000, "ChernyAV" raised to 968,750 on the button with pocket queens and "PUCIPUCO" moved all in for 6.45 million from the big blind with . "ChernyAV" made the call and won a massive pot when the board missed "PUCIPUCO," who exited in third place for $57,051.
Three hands later, it was over. "ChernyAV" had 82 percent of the chips in play and got the rest when his won a coinflip against the [4d} of "vongericke," who earned $80,402 for his impressive runner-up result. "ChernyAV," meanwhile, collected his first WCOOP bracelet and a career-best payday of $107,890.
